Pastoral Way: Tories say NO & admit over-development

I have now had a response to the request I put in following the parking survey for increased parking restrictions in Pastoral Way.

Not only have they said no, but they have admitted that they have approved far too many properties in the area and that people have nowhere to park.

The request for the parking restrictions in Pastoral Way to be amended has been discussed with the Lead Councillor for SEPP for Brentwood, Cllr Jon Cloke (note: Conservative), and the Lead Officer for Brentwood, Roy Ormsby.

It was agreed by all that until more extensive support can be demonstrated that SEPP cannot progress the request.  It is acknowledged that issues can occur in Pastoral Way, especially at weekends.  However, as it is the residents of The Galleries that are parking in this location any proposal will be met with plenty of objections.  The Galleries obviously do not have an adequate amount of parking therefore these vehicles need to park somewhere.  If the parking restrictions were to be amended then these vehicles will have no choice but to park elsewhere.  This would likely be further into Clements Park thus possibly causing more acute issues.

It was also noted that there has been no reported accidents in the last five years in this part of Pastoral Way and that there is a current 20mph speed limit in place.

Again, these were problems foreseen by the Liberal Democrats and ignored by the Tories that are now coming home to roost.  In short, there is no solution and they don’t have the appetite to do the survey because they know that they have made a very uncomfortable bed in which to lie.

Here are my findings, with 93% asking for more restrictions:

Pastoral Way parking – the results are in!
